December Pop-Up Shop and Skillshare

Please join us on December 10 for another fun Saturday at the historic Trumbullplex Theater. As on the second Saturday of every month, there will be upcycled craft supplies available at pay-as-you-wish prices. There will be fresh, hot coffee, and tasty vegan snacks. And there will be all sorts of creative folks, working on their craft projects, and enjoying one another’s company.

This month, our skillshare will be led by Michelle Stolz of Aisle 3. Michelle makes beautiful accessories out of upcycled neckties, so we’re excited to have a chance to learn from her. She’ll be showing us how to make a tie into a draft blocker. Old ties are cheap, abundant, and visually striking. And draft blockers are a great way to save a few dollars on heating costs during a brutal Michigan winter. So we hope you’ll take part in this fun and practical workshop.

Sewing machines will be used in making the draft blockers. We’ll have a limited number of machines available for your use, and you are encouraged to bring your own.

If sewing draft blockers is not for you, please feel free to work on your own creative project. Admission is free, and all are welcome to join us. At a time of year that often seems flooded with hectic activity and forced consumerism, we’re happy to provide an island where folks can relax, socialize, and express their creativity.
